In this episode of Codega’s Codex of Curiosities, Adam Farris returns to take us deep into one of the Bible’s most intense and overlooked books—the Book of Judges. This isn’t a quiet Sunday School reading. We're talking about chaotic battles, mysterious characters, divine appointments, and a strange pattern of rise, fall, and redemption that echoes right into our world today.
From Samson’s superhuman strength to Deborah’s fierce leadership and Gideon’s divine mission, the Judges of ancient Israel were more than just historical figures—they were icons of their age. But were they also something more? Could these men and women have been connected to the Nephilim or the “men of renown” mentioned in Genesis 6? And how do their abilities and roles compare to modern-day superheroes—those fictional warriors we worship on the big screen?
And here’s where it gets fun: when you line up these ancient characters with modern pop culture, especially superhero stories like the X-Men, you start to notice some wild parallels. Outsiders with powers. People chosen for strange missions. Those caught between divine will and personal struggle. Sound familiar?
In this episode, we explore:
  • The supernatural abilities of biblical Judges like Samson, Deborah, and Gideon
  • The mystery of the “men of renown” from Genesis 6 and their possible connection to Judges
  • Whether the Judges were connected to the Nephilim or some ancient hybrid bloodline
  • The surprising similarities between these biblical figures and today’s superheroes, like those in the X-Men universe
  • What it all might mean for how we interpret ancient texts and modern myth-making
🎧 Call to Action:
Listen closely to the stories. Do any of the Judges remind you of modern characters in comics, film, or even politics? Let us know in the comments—your thoughts might just make it into a future episode.
