Clare's Minister of State insists the Government's decision to join a €150bn EU Defence Programme will protect the country against growing threats into the future. Tánaiste and Defence Minister Simon Harris is expected to confirm Ireland's entry into 'Security Action for Europe' today, which will allow the state to acquire military equipment faster and at a lower cost. The SAFE deal only covers specific items such as air defence systems, artillery, ammunition, drones and anti-drone weapons. Tulla based Fianna Fáil Minister Timmy Dooley has been telling Clare FM's Daragh Dolan that Ireland's cyber and security weaknesses have already been exposed by bad international actors.
