American writer Frederick Buechner wrote, “The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet.” They are lovely words that express a lovely sentiment, but there is a theological problem with it: it’s all about me. And more: what if we never find that exact nexus where passion and need meet?
