小宝: Brother, what is the college entrance exam? Will you take it in the future too?
小刚: Yes, the college entrance exam is one of the most important exams in China. You have to take it to get into college. Many students prepare for it for years.
小宝: So after the exam, can you play every day?
小刚: Haha, a lot of people think that. But recently there’s a funny saying online: before the exam, you’re 'specially protected', but after it, you’re 'downgraded' to a regular family member.
小宝: Downgraded? What does that mean?
小刚: It means that before the exam, the whole family revolves around you, but after it, Mom and Dad say: 'You’ve grown up, now you should learn to handle things by yourself!'
小宝: Like how I learned to tie my own shoes last year?
小刚: Exactly! That’s what it means. Changing from being taken care of to becoming independent is something everyone has to go through.
小宝: So are you ready, brother?
小刚: I’m a little worried, but I think becoming independent is a great thing!
小宝: Then I’ll start practicing independence too! I’ll tidy up my toys by myself today!
