On this day in Formula 1 history, skill met storm in one of the most dramatic races the sport has ever seen.

The 1994 Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka became a duel of nerve and mastery as Damon Hill triumphed over Michael Schumacher in torrential rain, keeping the championship alive by a single point after a rare aggregate-time finish.

We also celebrate the birthday of Peter Collins, Ferrari’s British gentleman racer whose sportsmanship at Monza in 1956 defined an era of honour and courage, and look back at the moment a young Nico Hülkenberg stunned Formula 1 by taking his maiden pole position for Williams at the 2010 Brazilian Grand Prix.

From monsoon heroics to timeless humility and unexpected brilliance, this is the story of The Day That Skill Met Storm.
