How to Set Up Your Videos in 2022 | Episode 30
Manage episode 322491779 series 3325714
Your "video set up" simply means the way your equipment and space is set up to record videos. The goal here is to do as little work as possible before you push that record button!
On a recent call inside my monthly coaching group, the topic of video set up's was brought up. I was asked to share my setup with my coaching group, which I had never thought of doing before. Because my set up is just not fancy! It's my desk with a ring light and basic equipment. But, it made me realize something. I was holding onto this misconception that a setup should look "fancy." And that is absolutely not true.
Then, I realized there were lots of misconceptions people had about their set up. So let me break it down for you and tell you exactly what your setup does and doesn't need to be.
Here are the two rules you should follow for your video setup:
(1) Your set up should be simple and easy to maintain. Just a few quick steps and you're ready to take video. For me, I set up my background and turn on my ring light. It takes under a minute and I'm ready to roll.
(2) If possible, try to have your set up match your brand. Or, at least not contradict your brand. For example, when I looked for backgrounds, there were so many wooden "rustic" looking room dividers. I thought they were SO cute! But, the Camera Brave brand is not rustic... it's bright and clean and fun. So, while my space isn't perfectly-branded colors, it still matches and doesn't contradict my brand.
Here are some of the misconceptions that I've seen and that you may be holding on to...
You don't need an entire room or perfectly decorated area behind you. You can record up against a blank wall (as long as it isn't white!)
You don't need fancy or expensive equipment. And you don't need to be a trained videographer or experienced editor to take stunning videos.
The honest-to-goodness truth friends... is that video is only as hard as you make it.
There is no barrier to entry in 2022. We all have phones, and most likely, there is nothing physically stopping you from adding something to you Instagram stories (except maybe not knowing how to take a story).
90% of the roadblocks stopping people from taking video are mental. 10% of the problems are actual technical complications. And honestly, the only way you get to the 'technical difficulty' phase is by trying to take video.
That's why I have a monthly coaching group, not an eBook! Because so much of it is needing help to get started, getting questions answered, feeling encouraged and inspired, and having someone to guide you along the way.
Is the Camera Brave Club for you? Only if you're ready to change. Only if you're willing to trust that the next step for you is taking video. You don't have to feel ready, you don't have to have the perfect set up, but you do need to be ready to make a commitment that you're gonna try.
If that's you, this Club has the help, knowledge, encouragement, monthly trainings, and community you need, and I'd LOVE to see you inside!
