Buddhist BookChat is your gateway to the wisdom of Buddhist literature—past and present. Each episode dives into inspiring books by great masters, contemporary teachers, insightful authors, academics, and leading publishers, exploring the teachings, stories, and practices they value. Whether you’re new to Buddhism or a seasoned practitioner, join us to discover new reads, timeless wisdom, and the joy of bringing the Dharma from the page into daily life.

Our guest for today’s podcast is Lopon Yudron Wangmo.

Lopon Yudron Wangmo is a Buddhist teacher dedicated to the twin purposes of personal awakening and serving as a bridge between Tibetan Buddhism and the English-speaking world. Formally authorized to teach in 2017 by Lama Pema Dorje Rinpoche and bestowed the title Lopon—a term of respect meaning “teacher”—she guides students in the Dudjom Tersar lineage of the Nyingma school. As the founder and spiritual director of the Mayum Mountain Foundation, a Buddhist religious non-profit, she leads group practices at her home and center in Calaveras County, California, while also traveling throughout the United States to give public teachings and talks. Her online classes provide a space for sincere practitioners to engage deeply with the wisdom and methods of her lineage.

Living on the outskirts of a small town, Lopon Yudron Wangmo balances her teaching life with quiet simplicity and connection to the natural world. She shares her home with three orange cats and finds joy in swimming in nearby lakes, spending time with friends, and exploring her surroundings. Through both her teaching and her way of life, she embodies the integration of spiritual discipline and heartfelt presence that lies at the core of her tradition.
