In this episode of the Shelf Care Interview, Sarah Hunter talks to Jessixa and Aaron Bagley, the author and artist of DUEL. Jessixa Bagley is a children's book author and illustrator with a background in fine arts and comics whose work appears in such publications as New American Paintings, Highlights Magazine, and my personal hometown, alt-weekly, the Chicago Reader. Her work includes the award-winning Boats for Papa and many other Junior Library Guild selections, many of which feature animals and emotional themes, often inspired by her own experiences. Aaron Bagley is an illustrator who has created pieces for The Stranger, The Seattle Review of Books, and the Virginia Quarterly Review, and he's a frequent collaborator with Jessixa, including the picture book, Vincent Comes Home from 2018. As you probably guested, he too lives in Seattle. Thank you so much for being here today, Jessixa and Aaron.
