Biblical talks Encouraging Word for the Week I am Rachel Tolliver, In John 1:29, John said the next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

John identifies Jesus as the Savior, not just the Messiah. He calls Jesus the Lamb of God, who takes away sin. Jesus is a great Savior because He takes away the sin of the world and continues to do so at all times, allowing anyone to come to Him.

This fulfills what Abraham said to Isaac long ago when Isaac asked, "Where is the lamb for the offering?" Abraham replied, "God will provide a lamb." John tells us that Jesus is that Lamb.

This proves that Cain was wrong and Abel was right when Abel brought a lamb as an offering. All the lambs sacrificed on Jewish altars throughout history find their true meaning in Jesus. John points to Him and says, "Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world."
