Biblical Talks Encouraging Word for the Week, I am Rachel Tolliver. Habakkuk 3:18 says yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. "

Spiritual joy isn't just about being calm. It's not like rain that falls on us without our effort; it's more like drawing water from a well, which takes activity and work. Happiness requires thought. Habakkuk thought deeply about God's nature, moral qualities, covenant, and promises. He didn't just think of God in general, but in the specific way God related to him. He said, "I will find joy in the God of my salvation," because he understood God and felt a personal connection with Him. Simply knowing that God exists and is good doesn't bring happiness; it's the understanding and firm belief that He is our God that brings joy. This was true for Habakkuk and must be true for every genuine believer.
