This is a spotlight on the Scripture, Judges, 16: 16-18 And when she pressed him hard with her words day after day, and urged him, his soul was vexed to death. And he told her all his heart, and said to her, “A razor has never come upon my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother's womb. If my head is shaved, then my strength will leave me, and I shall become weak and be like any other man.” When Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called the lords of the Philistines, saying, “Come up again, for he has told me all his heart.” Then the lords of the Philistines came up to her and brought the money in their hands.

Beloved, Samson was a playboy, please listen to me, no man falls quickly into sin—he does it gradually. One of the greatest sins that destroys many a man today is this matter of illegitimate sex. That was Samson's sin— “he loved a woman whose name was Delilah.” As far as we know, he did not attempt to marry her. Delilah tells Samson that if he loves her, he will reveal the secret of his strength. So, Samson tells her that he is a Nazarite and that his long hair is the source of his strength. Listen His strength came from his unique relation to God, based on his Nazirite pledge. His long hair was only a sign of it. When Delilah became more important to him than God, his strength was removed.

Beloved Samson let his relationship with Delilah take priority over his commitment to God, and it cost him dearly. This is evidence that no human relationship, no matter how close that relationship may be, is ever to trump your relationship with the Lord. Samson’s sin cost him greatly. Sin blinds and later grinds. This is a spotlight on the Scripture
