Better Nation

Host Igor Alves, Ph.D dropout and would be social scientist, though actual award-winning producer, shares his reflections and talks with friends, guests and experts of many persuasions about topics at the intersection of the political, economic, social and personal. We explore this deeply divisive phase in U.S. and global history, the failure of elites and the established classes, and the rise of right-wing populist movements.
So many questions to explore: How can we understand each other beyond memes, stereotypes, political hacks, or via provocateur "influencers"? How do we live a life worth living in a world of "late stage capitalism" on the eve of an eminent "AI takeover"? Why should we care about policies, politicians and the public space? How do we define success and progress and wellbeing? What are the policy innovations and revolutions of imagination needed to help us live in better communities - in a better nation?
This podcast aims to become a space for unfiltered yet civilized conversations, with future episodes led by a theme, idea or compelling factoid. Through it, the show aims to guide us to a better understanding of the motivations, references and blind spots of those on our "team," their "team" and the giant group of our unaffiliated and disaffected neighbors. What we learn, inconvenient or not, will lead us to a more empathetic, less toxic place (we hope).
