Working from Home and How It Helps Rural Americans
Manage episode 501289114 series 3684474
Disclaimer: This show is not personal financial advice. We discuss general financial principles, we do not provide direct financial or investment advice.
In this episode, we discuss a possible solution for those in rural areas that lack the mid to high income jobs that are found in suburban areas and bigger cities.
I worked in public safety for nearly a decade, driving an hour each way and getting more burned out with each day with no luck in finding local jobs that made more without specialized degrees or certifications. I was introduced to remote opportunities, and that is what gave me breathing room. Not just in my budget from no commute, but also through less stress, increased income, and growth opportunities.
We also warn about the common scams, fake job postings, or MLM / pyramid schemes that you may run into in your search for remote work. (If someone that you haven't talked to since high school messages you with an "opportunity" - it's not a job. You'll be peddling essential oils, overpriced pots and pans, or overpriced whole life insurance policies if you aren't careful with these!) REAL REMOTE JOBS DO NOT REQUIRE YOU TO BUY A STARTER KIT OR RECRUIT OTHERS.
Common sense tips include researching the company and job, and only applying directly on an employers website.
As always, we thank you for your time listening! We hope to share stories and information that help everyday people find financial peace.
