What if you’ve been told that you’re too queer and too much, but you choose to become even more?

In this episode of Asian Rebel Club podcast, I sit down with Darice Chang - a queer Taiwanese-American writer, performer, meditation teacher, and cultural disruptor who has never fit neatly into the boxes assigned to them.

From competing in the Miss Taiwan Pageant to strutting through Taipei’s queer nightlife scene in Midnight Asia (Netflix), Darice has spent a lifetime reclaiming visibility on their terms. This is a conversation about queering the system: whether it’s gender norms, cultural expectations, or inherited shame.

Together, we unpack:

  • Why spiritual practices like meditation helped Darice feel “safe in their own body” again
  • The subtle forms of cultural violence that suppress queerness in Asian families
  • How drag became an expression of power and truth
  • What it takes to unlearn people-pleasing and live a life built around self-belonging

This episode is an invitation and a reminder to anyone who does not feel that they belong. Your freedom might just begin where shame used to live.

🎧 Listen now and forward it to someone ready to reclaim their voice.

🌀 Question for you:
What if your superpower lies in your queerness?
