#Arteetude 293 In this second episode, Gregg Turner and Schlich speak about growing older without giving in and more. The episode ends with “Four Winds Bar” by the Gregg Turner Group—melodic, rich, reflective, but never tame.

Part two of Detlef’s conversation with Gregg Turner picks up the thread of transformation—from punk provocateur to math professor and solo artist. They discuss the paradox of maturity, the creative power of nostalgia, and the strange way memory can distort rebellion. Turner reflects on writing music post-punk and what it means to keep singing when the world moves on.
We end this chapter with “Four Winds Bar” by the Gregg Turner Group—a blend of the lyrical, the lived, and the lingering.
Detlef Schlich is a rock musician, podcaster, visual artist, filmmaker, ritual designer, and media archaeologist based in West Cork. He is recognised for his seminal work, including a scholarly examination of the intersections between shamanism, art, and digital culture, and his acclaimed video installation, Transodin's Tragedy. He primarily works in performance, photography, painting, sound, installations, and film. In his work, he reflects on the human condition and uses the digital shaman's methodology as an alter ego to create artwork. His media archaeology is a conceptual and practical exercise in uncovering the unique aesthetic, cultural, and political aspects of media in culture.

📖 Hallucinations from Hell: Confessions of an Angry Samoan
by Gregg H. Turner
Illustrations by Gary Panter, Mindy Turner & Dave Lebow
From the anarchic backstage corners of LA’s punk underground to surreal scenes only the mind of a true outsider could conjure, Gregg H. Turner—co-founder of the legendary Angry Samoans—delivers a rollicking collection of tales that blur the line between lived truth and gloriously warped memory.
Was it all real?
Was it hallucinated?
As Turner himself writes: “Perhaps drenched with generous hyperbole? I’ll let you decide.”
This gonzo anthology is as loud, raw, and unapologetically twisted as the punk ethos that shaped it. With contributions from iconic illustrators like Gary Panter, Hallucinations from Hell captures the spirit of an era—and the unpredictable soul of one of its wildest survivors.
🌀 Read it if you're ready to fall into the wormhole.
