Today our podcast Art Intel and me, Brian , the Artificial Intelligence Voice, will read and listen the second part of the text of Jasper Kense published on The Guardian.
Open-source data collection.
Open-sourcing the data collection methods gives users the power to decide future outcomes of the AI-system. The idea of open-source is very attractive to the AI-community. A large community can lead to huge quantities of data being collected and leveraged for AI-purposes.
We can design systems in such a way that users are consistently adding to the training data. By designing open-source data collection points we are making the AI responsive to value shifts. That way we can align the output of an AI system with the present values.
It is easy to see these systems already being in place. In a simple recommendation algorithm, such as on Youtube, you can often flag videos you’re not interested in. Those user-centric decisions could be scaled up to serve the whole user basis, leaving the community to decide the outcome of the algorithm.
