This week I sat down with Erin, founder of Barefoot Shoes Australia, to talk about something we use every single day but rarely think twice about our shoes. What started as Erin’s personal search for relief from chronic knee pain became a mission to help others reconnect with the way our bodies were designed to move.

We explored what really happens to our feet when we wear traditional shoes, how they affect our posture, balance, and even our children’s physical development, and why so many of us have come to accept discomfort as normal. Erin shared the five key features that make a barefoot shoe truly supportive of natural movement, and a simple “shoe test” anyone can do to see whether their shoes are helping or harming their feet.

If you’ve ever struggled with foot, knee, or hip pain, or you’re curious about how to better support your child’s development, this conversation will open your eyes to how something as simple as your shoes can affect your entire well-being.
