This part 2 episode delves into non-anatomical factors causing airway collapse and resistance. 🌬️
Some Key Topics:
✅Understanding the Pcrit, what is normal, the goal of therapy in terms of the ideal Pcrit, and what causes specific amounts of changes to the Pcrit including oral appliances, nose breathing, weight loss, etc.
✅The primary non-anatomical triad includes arousal threshold, loop gain, and muscle recruitment. 🧠💪
✅These physiological contributors upregulate the sympathetic nervous system, leading to inflammation and mitochondrial dysfunction. 🔥
✅Effective treatment requires a multi-therapy approach, as monotherapy is often insufficient to address all contributing factors. 🛠️
✅Understanding these elements is key for comprehensive sleep-disordered breathing management. 💡
