A recent study titled *Forward Planning in a Population‐Based Alcohol Use Disorder Sample* challenges the notion that individuals with alcohol use disorder (AUD) neglect long-term consequences in their decision-making. Contrary to expectations, the study found that individuals with mild to moderate AUD exhibited better planning skills and were more motivated when incentives were presented, suggesting that their decision-making processes can be complex and nuanced. This insight is valuable for tailoring treatment strategies and understanding the motivations of those in recovery from AUD.
