Lesson 287: You are my goal, my Father. Only You.
Manage episode 498529871 series 3674772
Lesson 287 from A Course in Miracles invites us to recognize the futility of worldly substitutions when compared to the peace of God and our true identity.
• Every desire at its root is really the desire to remember our true self
• All searching, hoping, and wishing in the world is essentially identity searching
• The way to God is the way to your undistorted self, not a path to something separate
• The central decision is always choosing love over fear
• The ego's attachments are fear-based, disguised as safety, control, and familiarity
• Split goals create split minds and inner conflict
• Singularity of purpose aligns all thoughts and choices with the aim to remember God
• The world can be seen as a classroom for forgiveness and a bridge back to love
• The peace of God is our constant state beneath all temporary disturbances
• Making God our only goal doesn't mean rejecting the world but seeing it as it truly is
Practice today's lesson by pausing whenever tempted by distraction and asking: "Will this bring me closer to remembering God or further into forgetting?"
