Turn Around and Let Go

“…repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations…” -from Luke 24:47

Repent means to turn around and change direction. Some of us are doing the right things for the wrong reasons. Some of us our doing the wrong things for the right reasons. And some of us are doing the wrong things for the wrong reasons.

Repentance means…we change our hearts, we change our minds, we change our intentions, and we change our methods. It means turning away from anything not consistent with our best selves and highest callings and turning to the pathway that leads us there.

Forgiveness means letting go. It means letting go of our grievances and resentments. It means letting go of our anger and bitterness. It means letting go of our guilt and shame. If we can atone for past mistakes we do. If we cannot, we focus on being better today than we were yesterday.

Repentance and forgiveness are about turning around and letting go. God has already forgiven us. It’s time for us to forgive ourselves and each other and to move forward into the future to which God has called.
