3 Syllables Episode 1

Release Date: 15th August, 2025.

Original Recording & Editing Completed: 15th August, 2025.

Episode Status: Published.

I recorded this with what I had on hand: my spoiled iPhone 7 and Oriamo BoomPlay Headphones. They are old, the sound is not clean, and you will notice it. This audio will be re-uploaded on Monday with better quality, but the message was too urgent to wait. Please listen anyway. The words are the point; the message is heavier than the mix.

This episode leans on Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s story “The American Embassy,” from The Thing Around Your Neck. A woman stands in a line built from grief and bureaucracy. “She stood in line outside the American embassy in Lagos, staring straight ahead.” The world keeps moving while her world has stopped. People around her chatter, bargain, look away. She is asked to perform her pain for a stamp, to let strangers weigh her suffering against their rules.

There is a sentence in that story that cuts: “It was not courage, it was simply exaggerated selfishness.” I think about how often our heroes are celebrated while the people closest to them pay the price. I think about how quickly crowds step back when the night gets cold. I think about how you still have to walk forward despite being way behind.

This is an episode about being left to carry the heavy thing by yourself, and the choice to keep going. It was supposed to premiere on Monday, 18th August, 2025. But,I am releasing it today, on Friday 15th August, 2025 so you can sit with it, argue with it, pray with it, and arrive at Monday with steadier feet.

Our intimate launch gathering is planned for Thursday 21st August 2025 in Lusaka, private and only for people from Chipata Compound - listen and you will know why.

If you hear the hiss, forgive it. If you hear my heart, hold it. When people try to bend your life out of shape, remember who is holding the measuring line. God sees. Karma remembers. Take this as a threat and a promise.
