Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #642 is an hour of dynamic visionary acoustic improvisational music played by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, shruti box, sitar, double flute, acoustic guitar, mandolin and ukulele, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in early October of 2025, today’s show begins with the achingly lovely, gentle ballad “Always A Shining Star” featuring a sensitive, gentle vocal from Mariam and questing piano from Bob. “Let’s Rise Above” is a wide-ranging piece that travels from gentle folk to minimalist funk and features a fine vocal and soaring Native flute from Mariam and “There’s Only One Way To Live” is a pretty folk number driven by throbbing Native drum from Craig and Mariam’s chiming, lustrous mandolin. “To The Holy Place Within” is a mysterious, imaginative raga featuring all of The Gaea Star Band’s finest trademarks; lovely, virtuoso Native flute, a soaring vocal, steady, earthy Native drum and imaginative, harmonically-defining piano. “Ganesha” is another powerful raga, this time true-to-form with Mariam’s droning, exotic sitar defining the soundstage and we complete today’s show with the touching, affective environmental anthem “Restore” from Mariam’s “Vision Quest” LP.
