Metal band Dystopica returns with its fourth release, an EP entitled Semblance of Order, which is out now through Pavement Entertainment. The EP is intense, fast, aggressive, melodic and the beginning of a new heavier chapter for the band. Semblance of Order transcends genres by fusing the raw driving force of traditional heavy metal and thrash metal with the complexity of progressive metal and the punch of modern metal. In addition to the EP’s release, Dystopica has also dropped the music video for “A Semblance of Order.” The title track of the EP features a killer performance by the band. On the making of the music video, vocalist Becky Brideau says, “‘A Semblance of Order’ is about wanting to feel the way you appear. Edited by two-time Emmy Award-Winner Eric Michael Schrader, the music video expresses this meaning through visuals and an energetic performance.”The video was filmed at Space67studios, an old bank in Norwalk, CT, that was turned into a production studio. On the video’s setting, Brideau says, “We feel that the location fits the video perfectly. The band performance takes place in a room with bank vaults behind us which is different from anything we have done before. For the cutaways I am in another room singing in a mirror at my own reflection. The vaults represent things locked away in the mind and my reflection represents my outward appearance.”Produced by Nick Bellmore (Dee Snider, Corpsegrinder, Ripper, Hatebreed, Toxic Holocaust, Many Eyes), Semblance of Order is heavier than Dystopica’s 2021 Perception, 2022 Deception and 2024 Infinite Reflection and incorporates more modern metal elements while bringing back qualities classic heavy metal to create an epic sound. Each song on the EP is very distinct from one another but as a whole it expresses various themes and emotions that lie beneath the surface of what appears to be order. With both chugging and harmonized dual guitar riffs, shredding solos, vigorous drumming, thunderous bass and powerful female vocals that switch effortlessly from strong, melodic singing and high operatic singing to fierce growling and piercing screams, Dystopica further expands their core sound of combining classic heavy metal and modern metal.Dystopica is: Becky Brideau on vocals, Rob Muller on guitar, Lucas Dellaporta on bass, and Christian “HAM” Peragine on drums.
