It was a deflating evening commute for a number of drivers on the Schuylkill Expressway. Nails were scattered across all lanes of travel on I-76 westbound at the on-ramp from Montgomery Drive. A PennDOT spokesperson says the agency was alerted by Pennsylvania State Police just after 5 p.m. Tuesday. Officers swept the nails off the road, but not before a decent number of drivers picked up a nail in their tire and had to pull over. According to PennDOT, the nails were cleared around 5:40 p.m. and all lanes were reopened.
