The gaslighting and guilt-tripping even extends into spiritual belief systems, particularly the de facto “New Age” one which has been placed there as a trap for truthseekers who reject mainstream religions.
This one teaches that the hardships and challenges we face in life are … OUR fault. That they only occur because our souls (say it quickly) desire these experiences to “grow” and “evolve.” It even gives a free pass to evildoers, by telling us us that they are merely facilitating our evolution, and so don’t warrant judgement! The ultimate cosmic cul-de-sac.
