Welcome to The Daily Quote – a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, for May 3rd. Today is Free Comic Book Day. Yes, an actual holiday where walking into a store, grabbing a colorful story packed with heroes and explosions, and not paying a dime is totally normal. Honestly, it's the closest you and I will ever get to feeling like a comic book character—doing something awesome and getting away with it. To celebrate, I’ve chosen a quote not from a superhero, but from one of the greatest minds behind many of them—Stan Lee, who once said,

"That person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt a real superhero."

Now, I know—you’re probably not swinging from buildings or smashing alien invasions before breakfast. But Stan wasn’t talking about powers or masks. He was talking about you—the everyday version. The person who holds the door open, who checks in on a friend, who picks up a piece of trash without needing a thank you. It’s easy to celebrate superheroes when they’re in bright colors and dramatic poses. But Stan reminds us that the real superpower is doing the right thing, even when no one’s watching. Even when there's no theme music playing. So today, after grabbing your free comic, I challenge you to do one heroic thing—quietly, humbly. Rescue a moment for someone. Make Stan proud. Because in a world of noise, the quiet heroes still matter most.

You don’t need a cape to make today better—just a little heart and maybe a good comic book or two. Until next time, this is Andrew McGivern signing off for today but I'll be back tomorrow and I'd be honoured if you'd join us for another Daily Quote.
