Vitamin D, a fat-dissolvable vitamin, is necessary for healthy teeth and bones. It helps the body suck up calcium and phosphorus, which are crucial for bone development. When exposed to sunlight, the body generates vitamin D, moreover, foods like egg yolks, dairy products, and fatty fish can provide it. Vitamin D insufficiency can lead to rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults. It also helps the immune system function. Adequate amounts of this vital nutrient can be maintained with a balanced diet and regular exposure to sunlight.

Join the PACE Hospitals Podcast with Dr Mounika Jetti, Consultant General Physician and Diabetologist at PACE Hospitals, Hitech City, Hyderabad, India, as she discusses the role of Vitamin D for overall wellbeing. Learn how Vitamin D deficiency affects bone strength, immunity, and chronic disease risk.
