Introducing the Morning-Read-Nuggets (MRN #01)

This should have been a LinkedIn post but now I find myself designing a new format to deliver interesting finds that I discover in my 20-minute-morning-read-routine (I’ll get into my whole morning routine in a later article). It’s going to be called “Morning-Read-Nuggets" or short “MRN” and I am going to share whatever I find insightful or what “wows” me in a curated Leadership Nugget way. I do want to stress that articles are still the main thing! So here we go:

MRN #01: 5 Quick fixes that instantly make you feel better

Especially over long weekends, it’s sometimes challenging to get back into the rhythm. I am currently reading a book and wanted to share these beautifully collected, easy-to-do things to feel better instantly:

* Walk walk walk: Go for a walk for at least twenty minutes each day. Use your feet instead of an elevator or escalator. This is good for your posture, your muscles, and your respiratory system, among other things.

* Participate in social activities: If you are reading this, you are probably spending most of your days in front of a screen. Use break times to have conversations and meet people. Even if it’s only the post office around the corner.

* Fruits > Junk food: Try to avoid processed food and opt for fruit or nuts… Always start your meal with vegetables and then go over to proteins and starch.

* Get enough sleep: Easier said than done, but try to leave your phone out of your bedroom to get better wind-down times. Aim for 7-8 hours.

* Play with your kids or pets: This stimulates the mind and boosts self-esteem, plus a little exercise on top.

Overall: Be aware of your daily routine in order to detect harmful habits and replace them with more positive ones. As per usual: Tiny steps!

From the book: “Ikigai: The Japanese Secrets to a Long and Happy Life” by Hector Garcia.
