In the words of David Cassidy, in fact, while he was still with The Partridge Family, I think I love you…

Join us this week as Tracie and Emily revisit the 1994 film Four Weddings and a Funeral that they first saw in the theater together. Not only did this comedy launch Guy girls’ long-standing fixation on Hugh Grant, the floppy-haired embodiment of the word diffident, but it also tells a nuanced and progressive (for early 90s pop culture) story of gay romance, subverts the expectations of women's sexuality, and offers some lovely disability representation. While not everything holds up to 30-year hindsight–the characters are all posh white folks with lots o’ money and Andie MacDowell’s character is a bit of a sexy lamp–this brilliantly funny romance is well worth the rewatch.

You are cordially invited to don your headphones and listen to this episode…

We are the sister podcasters Tracie Guy-Decker and Emily Guy Birken, known to our extended family as the Guy Girls.

We're hella smart and completely unashamed of our overthinking prowess. We love 80s and 90s movies and tv, science fiction, comedy, and murder mysteries, good storytelling with lots of dramatic irony, analyzing film tropes with a side of feminism, and examining the pop culture of our Gen X childhood for gender dynamics, psychology, sociology, religious allegory, and whatever else we find.

We have super-serious day jobs. For the bona fides, visit our individual websites: tracieguydecker.com and emilyguybirken.com. For our work together, visit guygirlsmedia.com
