Firstly, let us remember the words of our Lord, "And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet" (Matthew 24:6). Christ implores us not to be troubled, for such events are but the birth pangs of a new era. We are called to be peacemakers, for "Blessed [are] the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God" (Matthew 5:9). Our mission is not to add to the cacophony of conflict but to be instruments of peace, to embody the love and compassion that Christ taught us. As practical Christians practicing practical spirituality, we must anchor our actions in prayer, knowing that "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 5:16). Let us pray for peace, for wisdom for our leaders, for comfort for those who suffer, and for the softening of hearts that have turned to stone.
