VELVET CODE
Velvet Code - International Award-Winning Electronic Music Producer, DJ, Label Owner, and Philanthropist.
Velvet Code, an international award-winning genderfluid Electronic Music DJ and producer, represents the dynamic heart and soul of the Canadian music scene. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Velvet Code has not only made waves as a prolific artist but has also left an indelible mark as a philanthropic trailblazer.
With a career spanning decades, Velvet Code is firmly entrenched as a formidable producer, songwriter, and DJ in both the electronic and pop music realms. Their sonic identity represents nostalgic influences from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, drawing inspiration from luminaries like David Morales, Calvin Harris, Armand van Helden, and David Guetta. Velvet's production prowess and distinctive style have earned them the moniker "The Drag Hit Maker," thanks to their remarkable collaborations with Drag Recording Artists worldwide.
In a defining moment, Velvet Code was handpicked to join Lady Gaga's prestigious Chromatica Billboard remix team, leaving an indelible mark with their remixes of chart-toppers like "Stupid Love" and "Sour Candy."
In 2020, Velvet Code unveiled the groundbreaking So Fierce Music label, a creative haven for LGBTQIA+ artists. This visionary platform now boasts a roster of over 40 up-and-coming talents, including Venus, Icesis Couture and Gisele Lullaby (winners of Canada's Drag Race), and Taiga Brava, the reigning champion of Queen of the Universe Season 2. Velvet's mission is to empower emerging artists and nurture them towards being accomplished recording artists.
In September 2021, Velvet Code founded the You Do You Foundation, a beacon of hope for underprivileged and financially compromised 2SLGBTQIA+ musicians. This pioneering initiative provides vital support, enabling these artists to harness the healing power of music on their paths to wellness, self-discovery, and success. In 2022, Canada Arts Council supported the first You Do You Foundation Mentorship Program which allowed the organization to mentor up and coming musicians to aid in their mental health recovery while creating music. In 2024 and 2025, TD Bank supported the Mentorship’s second and third year.
On June 5-6th 2026, Velvet and You Do You Foundation will launch the first ever queer music and Drag convention called Fierce and Fabulous Expo, taking place at Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
Velvet Code's dynamic journey through music and philanthropy continues to inspire, uplift, and propel artists and communities toward a brighter, more inclusive future.
