I sit down with author and teacher David A. Holland, whose devotional Praying Grace has now reached hundreds of thousands of readers. Many of you discovered him through his appearance in TBN’s Praise on the Revelation in the Past? episode and YouTube video as well as the God With Us documentary, and this conversation goes even deeper. David opens up about growing up in a world shaped by The Late Great Planet Earth, how fear-based eschatology shaped his childhood, and how a life-changing encounter with the message of grace completely transformed his walk with God. He shares the story of moving from shame, striving, and constant self-examination to discovering the finished work of Christ and learning to pray from victory instead of toward it.
We also talk about his surprising path to national visibility, the behind-the-scenes story of how Matt Crouch discovered his book, and the theological journey that led him away from dispensationalism toward a hopeful, expanding vision of the Kingdom of God. David discusses his upcoming book Now? Or Not Yet?, his insights into Matthew 24, his friendship with Dudley Hall, and why he believes the church still has a long future filled with purpose. It was one of the most encouraging and heartfelt conversations I’ve had on the podcast, and I’m excited to share it with you.
