In this episode, Ulaiza and Omer talk about the Booker Prize winning book "Heart Lamp", a collection of short stories by Indian writer Banu Mushtaq, originally written in Kannada between 1990 and 2023.It was translated into English by Deepa Bhasthi.
The stories explore the struggles and everyday trials, tribulations of Muslim women in southern India. Both Omer and Ulaiza have reviewed the book very well and given us a glimpse into the issues touched upon in the stories like religion, patriarchy, oppression, gender inequality and violence.
