The turkey was in the oven, the pies were cooling, and in Detroit, the Bears were on the menu.

On a Thanksgiving afternoon at the Silverdome, one of the most electrifying runners in NFL history turned a holiday tradition into his own personal highlight reel.

Missed tackles, broken ankles, defenders grabbing at air… and a scoreboard that just kept tilting further and further toward the Lions.

It was November 27th, 1997, when Barry Sanders carved up the Chicago Bears and delivered one of the greatest Thanksgiving Day performances the NFL has ever seen.
