His emotional connection to the school, the team, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints proved to be the ultimate factor, overriding the appeal of a major conference job.

For BYU, retaining Sitake is more than just avoiding a coaching search disaster; it secures stability during their critical early years in the Big 12.
