Welcome to the Saving Throes podcast! This is my Tabletop role-playing game podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a topic or theme along with my take on current happenings in the world of tabletop role-playing games and semi regular updates on the games I am currently involved with, or new games or products I have come across.

With the new Forgotten Realms books that came out recently (and that ones that I did my first impressions of in last week's episode), came the promised downloadable digital extra content promised to those who had pre-ordered a digital bundle (or otherwise available for those willing to spend $15 a pop). This week I give my impression on the first 2 of these digital extras, and then give my opinion on this growing trend that is showing up in the TTRPG world - the idea of micro transactions and DLC content. As was stated last year by WotC - they feel D&D is under monetized and have been moving to discover or "unlock" the recurrent spending seen in the video game world. Tune in to hear me dive in to give my thoughts on this trend, share my critiques of it and my concerns on how it impacts the end product.
