After a lot of back and forth between the state and the New Orleans Saints, it appears that a new deal has been made to secure a long-term lease for the Caesars Superdome. If you aren’t completely up to date on these lease negotiations, we’re going to go through the history of this partnership and how these deals have evolved through the years.

What appears to be a simple renewal is actually a high-stakes standoff involving not just the dome, but also Benson Tower, the practice facility, and Champion Square. Learn how Tom Benson’s legacy of leveraging potential relocation to cities like San Antonio shaped the playbook that the Saints are still using. With billions in future Super Bowl revenue hanging in the balance, David and Brad break down why the Saints hold all the cards and what the state must do to keep the team—and the economic windfall—in New Orleans. It’s a mix of sports, law, and political drama that only Louisiana could serve up.

Here’s what we discuss in this episode:

0:00 – History of the Superdome

4:57 – Tom Benson’s negotiation

9:20 – Who has leverage?

14:11 – Super Bowl in 2031
