Podcast Title: The Schema Showdown: A Secret Weapon for Google AI Overviews?

Episode Description:

Is your site invisible in Google's AI Overviews? A new experiment might have found the key. In this episode, we dive into a fascinating head-to-head test conducted by SEO experts Molly Nogami and Benjamin Tannenbaum to answer a critical question: Does high-quality structured data give you an edge in AI Overviews?.

The researchers set up a controlled experiment with three nearly identical single-page websites:

• One with well-implemented, high-quality schema, including complete Article, FAQ, and Breadcrumb schema.

• One with poorly implemented schema, containing deliberate errors like incomplete fields and incorrect date formats.

• One with no schema at all.

The results were striking. The page with well-implemented schema was the only one to appear in an AI Overview. It also secured the best organic search ranking, reaching as high as position 3. The page with poor schema ranked lower and failed to appear in an AI Overview, while the page with no schema was never indexed by Google at all.

Join us as we break down what this experiment means for your SEO strategy and why the quality of your schema, not just its presence, could be a critical factor for AI visibility.
