Good News Church adheres to historical Christianity and agrees with ancient confessions such as the Apostle’s Creed. We believe that the Bible is primarily about the ”good news” that even though we are sinners, Jesus Christ came to live the perfect life that we could never live, and then die the death that we all deserve, so that by believing in his life, death, and resurrection we could be in a right relationship with God. That also explains why we chose the name.

Although we celebrate the birthdate of Jesus of Nazareth on December 25 it is highly improbable that he was born on this day! The accounts found in Luke and Matthew do not give us an exact day they do relate a timeframe of the year. Consider Luke 2 and the revelation to the shepherds out in the fields at night. No shepherd would have his sheep in t…

In Learning to Swim – Part 3, Pastor Mike Stevens shares how the baptism in the Holy Spirit is meant to be lived out daily, not just experienced once. It’s a gift that strengthens us, builds our spiritual life, and helps us grow closer to God. Like learning to swim, it requires practice, trust, and a willingness to stay in the water instead of step…

In this sermon from Luke 2, we were reminded that true joy is not something we manufacture, but good news God announces. God sends a heavenly messenger to ordinary, fearful shepherds, showing us that the joy found in Jesus is offered to all. The angel's message centers on the identity of the Child—Savior, Christ, and Lord—revealing that lasting joy…

The Christmas story reveals God's heart for the marginalized when He chose shepherds to receive the first announcement of Jesus' birth. These weren't religious leaders or influential people, but workers considered spiritually unclean and unreliable by society. Their job made following religious rituals nearly impossible, placing them firmly on the …

The first Christmas was far from the serene, sanitized scenes we often see on greeting cards. It was marked by the political upheaval of a forced census, an exhausting journey for a heavily pregnant woman, and the rejection of finding "no room in the inn." Jesus wasn't born in a sterile palace, but in the messy reality of a stable, laid in a feedin…
